Fabric reinforced tube
Fabric reinforced tube for rubber expansion joints are made of a durable, flexible material with an inner metal reinforcement. The outer covering is natural or synthetic rubber. It supports the joint carcass and protects it from the elements, including pressure and movement. Some types are also made to withstand acid fumes or harsh chemicals. In addition, these joints can be customized for different types of applications.
A typical expansion joint has a flanged cover and is reinforced by fabric between the cover and the tube. A fabric carcass is usually made from synthetic materials, although natural fabrics may be more suited to certain applications. Fabric plies are impregnated with rubber or synthetic compounds for protection against the corrosive effects of the environment. In standard constructions, the fabric is reinforced by steel rings or spiral wound wire. This reinforcement is embedded within the joint carcass to prevent axial movements during operation.
Synthetic rubber
Synthetic rubber expansion joints are designed to resist pressure and movement in mechanical applications. They are available with an inner tube made of natural or synthetic rubber and a protective lining. The tube extends through the bore and outside edges of the flanges. The purpose of the tube is to prevent foreign materials from entering the carcass and weakening the fabric. Some types of tubes are designed to be resistant to certain chemicals and petroleum products. In addition, they have metal reinforcement along the body.
EPDM expansion joints are made from high quality EPDM rubber tube. The outer rubber cover is reinforced with a nylon tire cord. EPDM rubber is stronger than other types of elastomers, such as Neoprene, butyl, and Nitrile. These expansion joints are also equipped with galvanized steel floating flanges. They rotate easily to make installation quick and easy.
Externally pressurized
Externally pressurized rubber expansion joints are used in various applications, including pneumatic conveying and filtration. They are made from natural or synthetic rubber that protects the carcass and allows movement and pressure. The expansion joint’s interior contains solid rings or wire that strengthens it so it can withstand high pressure. This go now type of joint also has leak-proof lining tubes that extend from the bore to the outside edges of the flanges.
Externally pressurized expansion joints are made from two pieces of pipe connected by a protective sleeve. They also have a bellow attached at both ends. Externally pressurized rubber expansion joints feature a flanged or weld end fitting that prevents damage to the bellow. External pressurization also ensures that the joint will not buckle under pressure due to internal pressure.
PTFE/PFA liner
A PTFE/PFA liner for a rubber expansion joint offers a number of benefits. For example, PTFE is hydrophobic and inert, making it ideal for multipurpose applications. It also offers excellent resistance to ozone, sunlight, and weathering. In addition, a PTFE liner can be transparent.
PTFE liner for rubber expansion joints is available in a wide range of configurations and types. They can also be coated with metal for increased corrosion resistance. A PTFE-lined rubber expansion joint can provide the same performance and strength as a standard rubber build. Moreover, PTFE has properties that make it suitable for food-grade applications.
